They Come From the East, Bearing Gifts!

During the first days of August we will graciously welcome to our parish two sisters of St. Elisabeth Convent from the country of Belarus. The Sisterhood of St. Elisabeth was founded in 1996 in this formerly Communist country to serve children and adults who are mentally and emotionally challenged. They also have a ministry to those who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction. They are in this country to educate us about their apostolate, and to make available to us a variety of religious articles which have been crafted by their patients. These crafts include hand-painted icons, crosses, crucifixes, wood carvings, embroidered and ceramic gifts, rosaries and vestments.

Though their schedule does not permit them to be with us on a weekend, they will be here on Tuesday, August 2nd, after morning Mass until one o’clock, and then again on Wednesday, August 3rd, from three o’clock until after the evening Mass. They will have a variety of religious articles for sale, which will make exquisite Christmas gifts.

Thank you for your support of these sisters, as they seek to live the gospel with those who are so greatly disadvantaged. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
